Orientation for the Assistants to Teachers of Japanese (ATJ) Program
On Thursday 21st April, the Acting Consul-General, Mr Yasufumi Kotake, attended an orientation for participants of the Assistants to Teachers of Japanese (ATJ) Program, held at the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
In his speech, Acting Consul-General Kotake welcomed each of the 27 new Assistants and encouraged them to enjoy their stay in Victoria and to make the most of their opportunities to foster the friendship between Japan and Australia.
The ATJ Program commenced in 1996 by the initiative of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development in order to meet the considerable demand for Japanese teachers in Victorian schools. Each year 20 to 30 young Japanese are placed in Victorian Government schools, with more than 300 having participated since its inception.
