Drunk Talk: Echigo Beer Koshihikari Rice Lager

Japanese Beer made of rice

Koshihikari Echigo beer is a rice lager style beer that uses super premium short grain rice called Koshihikari. Produced in ideal rice growing region of Niigata prefecture, koshihikari is known to be the best quality rice in Japan. The flavour of this premium beer can only be made with this rice. Out of all ingredients, rice is used 20% when common beer is around 4%.

Using the time consuming decoction method which originated in Germany, Echigo delivers sweetness of the Koshihikari rice to satisfy even the non dry beer drinkers. The brewery holds the high standards when selecting the koshihikari rice, to assure the exquisite flavour outcome. Using 100% malt and nongenetically-modified beer yeast, Echigo beer produces a high quality beer that cannot be imitated.

The beer comes in a very traditionally Japanese looking bottle. Most of the writing is in Japanese on the bottle and the labels has a water colour on it of some people picking rice in a field. It almost look like a sake bottle than a beer bottle.

It’s a pale golden pour that comes out of the bottle, with a strong head that quickly fades.

There’s a slightly acidic tang to the regular lager flavour, which you probably wouldn’t notice too much if you weren’t on the look out for it.

Koshihikari Echigo beer contains 5% alcohol and with a crisp, refreshing flavour, it exceptionally smooth for a superb drinking enjoyment.
Koshihikari Echigo goes well with all dishes especially seafood including sushi and sashimi.
Koshihikari Echigo beer is made in Japan using selected 100% pure Japanese ingredients and water, it is real super premium rice beer and only one beer.
