Creative Valentine's Day Ideas – Perfect SAKE for my Perfect Y♡U

Everything is heart-shaped as long as you love me

14 Feburary, the time of year when all couples (and potential couples) pulling their hair, thinking how to impress their honey-bunnies. We are almost certain that Valentine's Day is one of the least romantic days of the year. Why is that, you ask. Well, most men (ladies express their affections in Japan though) just get flowers and chocolates or book a table for two for a candlelight dinner at a fancy restaurant. It becomes a ritual rather than a celebration, an appreciation for having love in life.

Some of you may have planned a romantic dinner at home. Good on you! But don't tell me you are having red wines with your heart-shaped steaks. Too boring! Surprise your sweetheart, for SAKE's sake! Hmm… sake… How about some Japanese SAKE? You don't have to be a Japanophile or a sake-master to enjoy sake. Forget all the rigid rules. We have selected 4 lovely sakes that suit the occasion best and most importantly, all you have to do is to chill the thing and enjoy.

1. Choya Kokuto Umeshu

(Please click on the sake image for details)

This is another great product from the world most famous Umeshu distiller CHOYA JAPAN. This time, Choya blends Japanese plum with brown sugar, rum & black vinegar to make it richer, sweeter & even a bit smokier. Enjoy the divine over ice as a desert wine, mix it with soda or even top it over vanilla ice-cream for a more complex flavour. It’s just heavenly!

2. Rihaku Junmai Ginjo Ryounintaishaku

(Please click on the sake image for details)

Not just simply because of the name – “Ryounin Taishaku” (literally, two people enjoying a drink face to face), this Junmai Daiginjo is very clean, fruity and refreshing that is perfect on a summer night.

3. Kizakura Yuzu Highball

(Please click on the sake image for details)

A carbonated ready-to-drink citru sake cocktail from the oh-so-famous Kizakura Brewery, yuzu highball is made from yuzu (citrus fruit native to Japan) infused in semi-dry sake. Serve chilled or on the rocks.

4. Kizakura Sake Highball 300ml

(Please click on the sake image for details)

Another light and refreshing carbonated ready-to-drink sake cocktail. Again, serve chilled or over ice with a fresh lemon/ lime wedge or slices of cucumber.
