Why don't you come along and feel the festive air in Box Hill?
【Check out this video from Japan Festival 2011】
The Japan Festival is the biggest ethnic event in Australia with over 100 different stalls participating.
More than 5000 spectators attend this festival every year.
From Japanese knick-knacks to animate products and accessories, there will be so many more for you to purchase.
As for on stage performances, there will be taiko performance, Japanese dance and martial arts demonstration in the main hall just like previous years. You certainly won't want to miss the circus either.
Demonstration of flower arrangements, bonzai and tea ceremony will be on 1/F.
In the front yard, you can enjoy traditional Japanese games like hikubanori, kendama and koma, which are very popular among spectators every year.
The highlights of this year will be the sumo show in the front yard and Showfukutei Showko's puppet *rakugo on the stage.
* Japanese comedy show with a blend of traditional entertainment and puppetry.
Food stalls in the parking area next to TAFE will be offering you takoyaki, sushi, okonomiyaki, yakitori, dorayaki, udon and yakisoba.
On the 2/F of TAFE, there are retail corners for goods and items, model display of Shinkansen and cultural workshops for Japanese dance, igo and shogi.
The exhibition of the drawings of the school kids is located on the 2/F. Cast your vote on your favourite drawing because the winner will be announced and awarded that day. JCV has been receiving so many entries every year, and this year, the number has hit 400!
There are about 150 volunteers helping with the Japan Festival this year. Their yellow vests are as eye-catching as the crowd of spectators in kimono, yukata and cosplay clothings.
See you there!
