Big Bento Lunch Mar 1 – 31

11 Mar 2013

Today marks the 2nd year anniversary of the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami that devastated Eastern Japan. To commemorate this disaster and raise funds for the Save Minamisoma Project, The Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme Alumni Association, warmly invites you to participate in the annual Big Bento Lunch.

The Big Bento Lunch encourages you to gather with colleagues, family and friends to host a Japanese-style lunch and collect donations between March 1 – 31.

Last year, Big Bento Lunch raised more than $15,000 for UNICEF’s work supporting children in the affected regions of Tohoku. This year, their aim is to raise $10,000 for the Save the Minamisoma Project which “has been delivering food and safe drinking water to the residents of Minamisoma city who are in continuing need of assistance after the earthquakes of March 2011, the resulting tsunami, and the radiation from the Fukushima nuclear power plants.

100% of the funds raised will go directly to the Project. Help them reach the goal of $10,000 by the end of this March.

For more information and details on how to host your own Big Bento Lunch, please take a look at their website.

The event is proudly organised by the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme Alumni Association Vic/Tas/SA, with support from the Consulate-General of Japan, Melbourne.
