Australia’s largest Anime Festival

The Melbourne Anime Festival is back again this year! At the Melbourne show grounds for 3 days August 20th -22nd. Starting back in 2000 this is the festivals 10th anniversary, and the turn out is expected to surpass last years attendance of 13,000.

Anime in Australia is manga that originated and developed in Japan. Anime is immensely popular with young people. Close to 80% of the festivals attendants are 22 or younger. There are many people who study Japanese culture and Japanese through anime, and at this event there’s much Japanese culture to be seen.

There’s sure to be a crowd of Aussies wearing cosplay costumes gathered at this event. At the huge buildings in the show grounds there will be many events such as an anime idol contest, auctions, and karaoke. All the flashy costumes are quite a sight, and amongst them there’ll be some famous anime characters. So even for those who might not know anime so well, it’s still an event they can enjoy. There’s also a lot of Japanese food like Takoyaki and Yakitori every year outside the venue. These are just some of the events attractions.

The Melbourne Anime Festival is practically the second half of the Japan Festival, so why not come check it out?
