On Sunday August 1st 2010 the annual meeting of the JCV (Japanese Club of Victoria) was held at the Multicultural Hub in the city from 10:30am. The morning started off with the report on JCV’s activities, followed by a section meeting (women’s group and Care Link), the Japan Festival, and the accounts report. Each gave their report for the year, to which there was Q&A time. The events for FY2009 were successfully completed and the FY2010 Japan Festival, which had an attendance of 5000 people and 134 volunteers, was also a grand success. Participating in the Moomba Parade, and the sports meet attracted many Japanese people in Australia with small children, 142 participants came together and took part in these local. From the afternoon it was the appointment of board elections, a task that proves difficult every year.
The agenda on future plans to improve JCV’s clubhouse, that doubles as facilities for the Japanese community, were approved. However it was recognized that the plans involve many issues that require more discussion and prudence when proceeding.
In other news the JCV website has been renewed and upgraded and reportedly has become quite a substantial website. So that it is easier to use, JCV website and the Japan Festival website have been combined. For those that wish to join the group you can become a member by printing out an application form the JCV admissions application page on the website, filling out the necessary items and sending a cheque for the annual membership fees. There is also a members only access site.
