January Event Calendar 2014

In 2014, Melbourne play host to a number of Chinese New Year Festivals. Each venue offers its own unique festival theme, performances and food….

Ryukyu music and dance performance

The Japan Foundation, Sydney and Okinawa Prefecture proudly present the Australian debut of Tale of the Southern Winds, a stunning dance theatre work by Okinawa Song & Dance Theatre Ensemble, Chura. Tale of the Southern Winds shows for two nights only: December 14 in Sydney, and December 17 in Melbourne.
The all-female ensemble comes direct from Okinawa, the subtropical islands of Southern Japan—also known as Japan’s secret paradise. This lyrical and powerful performance captures the essence of life in the islands of Okinawa: the cultural richness, colourful history, distinctive sound and breathtaking natural beauty.

Cosplay Volunteers Needed!

We are hosting the event to promote Tokyo as a tourism destination. The event will take place at RACV hotel in Melbourne CBD, early December.
