Edward Lear’s famous poem provided the theme for a delightful sculpture by Japanese ceramic master, Shoko Mafune. She’d smile at the thought his playful rhyme might draw you closer to her artwork – that’s what she wants. Shoko uses her clay figures to reach out, as if pottery is her special language to engage with the world.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan offered the opportunity for Australian and New Zealand students to travel to Japan for 10 days, 9th December to 18th of December 2012, in order to experience Japan’s current situation and its culture. The project was introduced as part of the recovery plan of Japan after the 2011 earthquake disaster.
This is the travelogue by Brett Ong, one of the participants from Melbourne.
We are seeking an individual to take the role of an assistant during classes for middle and senior school students, from April 1, 2013 until March 31 2014, at our school in Sapporo, Japan.
This entails working together with the main teacher in teaching, as well as in crafting and reviewing the school’s curriculum.
Applicants are expected to encourage students and convey a passion for learning in the classroom, as well as to offer strong academic and moral support to students throughout the year.
With Christmas just around the corner, finding the perfect gift can be hard. But don’t stress, below are some amazing stores in Melbourne and online where you can find that special Japanese style gift.
