The St Kilda Film Festival will be welcoming “Tokyo Short Shorts” to their international program in 2017. Tokyo Short Shorts is a selection of Japanese films curated by the “Short Shorts Film Festival Asia” which was founded in Japan. From its beginnings in Harajuku in 1999, the Short Shorts Film Festival Asia has grown into one of the most highly renowned film festivals, receiving over 5000 films from all over the world every year.
“Hana”
The Short Shorts Film Festival Asia is an Academy Awards accredited international film festival and partnered with the St Kilda Film Festival this year to showcase up and coming Japanese short films. They have scheduled two sessions in May in order to show as many films as they can.
“Tokyo Cosmo”
City of Port Phillip Acting Mayor Katherine Copsey also warmly welcomes the addition to the festival, saying, “Partnering with a film festival as renowned as the Short Shorts Film Festival is an incredibly exciting experience. The City of Port Phillip is so happy to be able to facilitate this showcase. We look forward to introducing attendees to a diverse range of talented, forward thinking filmmakers and explore the bringing together of two different cultures, and the role that cinema plays in both of these.”
“Let’s go home”
